Architect designed Queen Anne brick and exterior tile townhouse built in 1874. Over the course of my 27 years of ownership I've completely renovated the interior to make it both contemporary and traditionally consistent with many of the original late 19th c architectural features. Decorative features include replacing crown moldings, chair rail, refurbished stairway, wallpaper in some rooms consistent with the period of the house, reproduction lighting fixtures and window dressings, all original floors refurbished and restored, and so on. Since I am a working artist, I turned the entire first floor into artist studios from what was a large livingroom, dining room and kitchen into 2 artist studios and a mudroom for the completely fenced in designed rose and clematis garden on the side and rear the home.Neighborhood DescriptionThe eight hundred block of North Jefferson Street is a very well maintained and for the most part, a city street dominated by homeowner occupied residences and a Roman Catholic convent. There is a sense of pride in this block and most of us cooperate in attempting to put the best face on our street with planted flowers and trees. Most of us cooperate on keeping our street cleaned of debris. And we keep a watch out for illegal activity which does surround us being an inner city neighborhood. While being a dominantly African-American block, about 10% of the homes are owned and occupied by Caucasians. There is a sense of complete racial harmony in our block.…  More Less What I love about the homeMy home is a very sturdy and well designed late Victorian brick city townhouse built in 1874. It has many distinctive decorative features on the facade including terracotta tiles both in the trim and the triangular apex. I had all of the windows replaced 15 years ago, a new roof installed 8 years ago, a new hot water heater installed 3 months ago, all electrical and plumbing has been replaced and updated over the past 26 years. All of the plaster walls were hand replastered by Italian craftsmen and have been covered with historically appropriate Arts and Crafts English and American wallpaper. All of the lighting in the main rooms of the house were replaced the traditional fixtures appropriate to an late Victorian 19th c. townhouse.
