I am excited to share this home with you! It is an 1830 Greek Revival/Center Chimney Cape. Located two miles from the beach & just steps to the downtown Village of Hampton. A large Great Room with a working wood fired cookstove leads to the office/study. The built in desks with storage are directly across from an airtight woodstove. Wooden pegs frame the mantel, perfect for drying or warming winter clothes. The galley kitchen has a breakfast bar opening into the formal dining room with yet another fireplace. A first floor bedroom and full bathroom with washer & dryer ensure that you can stay in this home for years to come. This bedroom may have the third fireplace hidden behind the wall- typical of a center chimney cape built on the easily identifiable brick archway in the cellar. The Captains staircase leads to 4 bedrooms upstairs with beautiful aged wide pine floors with a hand scrubbed pumpkin finish. A row of 3 closets supplement the storage in the bedrooms. A full bathroom with a skylight is down the hall & large family room adjoins- with a second staircase leading back to the Great Room. This room was originally intended to be a master bedroom. Imagine your life in this home-how would you use & enjoy the rooms? The "Potting Shed" out back is too cute for words. Not Enough space? There is a two story barn out back & a firepit to enjoy. The Old Salt is just a few doors down, The Smuttynose Brewery is around the corner. Close to Routes 1, 27 101 & 95.…  More Less What I love about the homeLife here was wonderful. We purchased it in 1985, it stood out as rare, being two miles from the beach and steps from the village of Hampton. Walking distance to every amenity was a great benefit to our family when our four children were growing up. As was having sidewalks upon which to walk, run, roller blade and ride bikes. The house is near the street, as most old home are, but as such we dearly enjoyed marking the holidays and seasons with decorations on the street side. Once out in the back, one is in another world?quiet and private. In our historic house, we had truly found ?home?. The house was warm and cozy in the winter and cool in summers, constantly filled with friends and family. Holidays were spent with the large extended family members and the good old house easily absorbed the crowd. We had animals for many years dogs, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs but also chickens and goats. We always had a vegetable garden. There are still fruit trees in front of the barn and potting shed. The children and I, with friends in tow, would be found at the beach most days in the summer. The Hampton schools are excellent, and it was a bonus to be able to walk the kids to school, the library, HYA sporting events and church. The barn had to be moved and reassembled out further back on the property. The big back yard was a delight to the kids and their friends. One can walk out back, cut through and be steps from the grocery store. There have been recent updates that have made living in the home very comfortable and convenient. It is only because the house is too big for my husband and myself now, that I am willing to part with this home. We are down sized and living near one of the children. It is time to allow someone else to love the house.
